Appendix A — Dramatis Personae

Adventurers: The primary group consisting of Doctor Pepe, Elara Starglimmer, Halite the Goliath, Kragor Grimstride, Scarlet Tanager, Therin Sunscale, and Whisper of Misty Valley. Doctor Pepe, Elara, Kragor, and Scarlet have been hailed as heroes in Palebank Village for saving a local family from a frozen fate due to the Aeorian-engineered disease, Frigid Woe; and have the appreciation of Uthodurn for delivering that plague into the kingdom’s safe-keeping. Therin is their latest associate, met during their joint assignment to protect the transfer of a powerful Aeorian artifact to Uthodurn—a mission that ended in a devastating ambush. Halite and Whisper recently rejoined the group in Uthodurn following a guiding contract cut short by their client’s death in Eiselcross.
Ava Endlewood: Proprietress of the Plexus Post, an antique and curiosity shop on the Liber Disk of Uthodurn. A woman of wide shoulders and fine, long gray-green hair, she stocks rare magical items and has hinted at a willingness to hire the party for less-than-legitimate acquisitions. When asked about custom enchantments, she offered a rare Canaith Mandolin but ultimately advised the party to seek out the renowned Pumat Sol in Rexxentrum.
Borant: The dwarven desk attendant at the Vellum Steeple. He provided Kragor with research regarding the flesh-eating Mawcotters, unwittingly serving as a distraction while Doctor Pepe infiltrated the restricted archives.
Borric: A fastidious dwarven assistant at Padillia’s shop on the Liber Disk. He handles fittings and measurements with an air of grave professionalism.
Brennik Coalvein: A young Glassblade recruit and the sole surviving guard of the Palebank caravan, pulled from the wreckage of the lead wagon. His mentor was Sergeant Dolgrim Ashward, whose death in the ambush hit the young recruit hard. He lives on the Volition Disk near the copper mines. He has been officially assigned by the Glassblades, alongside Commander Hilda, to accompany the party on their expedition south to track the stolen purple worm.
Caelynn Whisperwind: A hardy teamster and the sole surviving crew member of the Palebank caravan. She managed the Flot goats and escaped the ambush by slipping into the blinding rain.
Cara: A worker at the Luddenbrock mines on the Volition Disk of Uthodurn. She peered through a fissure the mining crew had broken into and reported seeing something made of teeth before collapsing unconscious. The healers revived her, but she did not return to work.
The Crimson Rider: A mysterious, expressionless warrior whose face resembled dry, stretched parchment. Riding a fearsome Moorbounder and wielding a cursed glaive, they led the ambush against the caravan and successfully stole the Aeorian artifact.
Donal: An older dwarven patron at the Broken Stool tavern and a former caravan runner who traded between Uthodurn and Xhorhas. He warned the party about the terrifying prowess of the Kryn Echo Knights and strongly advised against traveling through the Savalirwood, recalling horrifying rumors of towering, demonic udaaks in the region.
Deilin: A slender young elf who works the forge at the Anvil of Smeltborne. She is mute but hears and understands everything said around her.
Demid Sunlash: A diminutive dwarven scholar visiting from the Cobalt Soul, invited to sit in on the Vellum Steeple’s debriefing of the party following their discovery of Kaspien’s laboratory.
Dolgrim Ashward: Sergeant of the Palebank caravan escort and mentor to the young recruit Brennik Coalvein. A grizzled dwarven veteran. Killed during the caravan ambush in the Crystalsands Tundra.
Elro Aldataur: The elf ranger appointed as leader of Palebank Village. Elro recruited our party to investigate the freezing sickness afflicting some villagers, and then again to protect the transport of a powerful Aeorian artifact to Uthodurn.

The village is guided by Elro Aldataur, a weathered elf ranger who helped found Palebank roughly sixty years ago. Stoic and humorless, Elro showed a knack for leadership when the fledgling outpost was beset with danger on a near-constant basis. Elro earned the trust and respect of the residents, and they asked him to govern Palebank. He begrudgingly accepted, and has since overseen the expansion and protection of the village. Elro generally has sixty to ninety Glassblades at his command.

– Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount

Echo Knights (Vornesh Tasithar and Aedric Olios): The imposing drow guards assigned as personal security to Taskhand Serath Mirimm. Clad in jagged, jet-black carapace armor bearing dodecahedron insignias, their title is a mark of high distinction in the Kryn Dynasty, signifying them as the most faithful and adept of the Aurora Watch. Following the audience at the myconid colony, Aedric returned to Xhorhas alongside Taskhand Serath, while Vornesh remained behind to accompany the party south into the Underdark.
Ërethyn Galewing: Minister of the Diarchy of Uthodurn. An elven woman with silver hair pulled back tight and ink-stained fingers, she authorized the Palebank caravan and debriefed the party on its catastrophic outcome. She revealed the Kryn Dynasty’s likely involvement in the ambush, noted the inconsistency of undead among Kryn forces, and named the adventurers Glassblade Friends of the Court. She asked them not to pursue the stolen artifact further.
Faelan Duskwood: A veteran Glassblade killed during the caravan ambush. He identified the distant winged silhouette as possibly being Gelidon, the Nightmare in Ivory.
Frost Giants (The Mountain Pass): A pair of frost giants who ambushed the party on the slopes east of the Ivory Lake. The larger of the two, pale-eyed and unhurried, wielded a greataxe and a bow; he very nearly killed Doctor Pepe with a single blow. Hilda Brackmar felled him. The smaller, broad-shouldered and pale-skinned with a fur cloak caked in frost, wielded a greatsword and a bow. Elara brought her down with unerring magic after forcing her to grovel.
Gelidon, the Nightmare in Ivory: A fabled ancient white dragon whose terrifying silhouette was spotted soaring far to the south during the caravan’s crossing of the Crystalsands Tundra. Faelan Duskwood warned that if she caught their scent, she would make a meal of the Flot goats.
Gerhard Eisner: A former member of the party. He departed in Syrinlya, reuniting with his searching brother and returned to Icehaven to rebuild his shattered life.
Halite the Goliath: A Goliath and former member of the party who departed in Syrinlya alongside Whisper to guide a wealthy collector into Eiselcross. The client was killed by a remorhaz before the expedition had properly begun; they brought the body home and earned their fee. Halite and Whisper rejoined the party on the Auger Trail in Uthodurn.
Hilda: Proprietress of the Softer Stone Forge, a bakery on the Liber Disk two blocks from Padillia’s Boutiques. A stout female dwarf with gray hair pulled into a tight bun and wide, capable hands. Her black moss cupcake— earthy and mineral on the outside, matcha cream within— provoked contemplative silence from several members of the party.
Hilda Brackmar: Commander of the Glassblade reinforcements dispatched to the Luddenbrock mines. A stern female dwarf. She confiscated arcane artifacts from the laboratory on behalf of the Vellum Steeple and noted that the subterranean discovery had revealed a previously unknown, unmonitored passage deep into Uthodurn’s bedrock.
Hildra Bronzebuckle: A teamster with the Palebank caravan. Killed during the ambush in the Crystalsands Tundra.
The Homunculus (Flea): A bat-like creature roughly the size of a large cat, bound to the wizard Kaspien. It speaks only Abyssal but understands Common perfectly well. Sustained by some dark arithmetic long past its master’s apparent death, it guarded the sealed laboratory beneath the Luddenbrock mines and endured the intrusion of the party with considerable outrage. Once the daemon was dispatched, it proved willing enough to answer questions— waiting, it seemed, for someone to ask the right one. The daemon had called it Flea; it hated him for it. When Kragor accidentally shattered the crystal vial containing Kaspien’s trapped essence, the homunculus’s tether to the mortal plane snapped and the creature ceased to exist.
Honor and Magic Liel-Tethwick: Twin tiefling daughters of the Liel-Tethwick family. Spared from the icy grip of the Frigid Woe, they touchingly welcomed the adventurers back to Palebank Village with woven floral garlands.
Kaspien: A wizard whose desiccated remains occupy the writing desk of a sealed subterranean laboratory beneath the Luddenbrock mines. Long ago, Kaspien undertook an illicit soul-transfer ritual developed in secret collaboration with a colleague named Margrethe, concealing their work from an oversight body called the Forum. A letter from Margrethe containing critical last-minute corrections arrived unread: the ritual cracked the crystal vial meant to contain the soul, leaving Kaspien suspended in agonizing stasis— dead in body, not yet free in spirit. When Kragor accidentally shattered the vial during the party’s visit, Kaspien’s body crumbled instantly to ash and the trapped spark of green light flared and vanished. The Scribewarden of the Vellum Steeple later suggested the warlock had likely killed a lich.
Kord, The Stormlord: God of battle, roaring tempests, and unyielding strength. Kragor’s mother worshipped him in absolute secrecy. Kragor recently experienced a profound vision of her and received a lingering, warming blessing at an ancient mountain shrine dedicated to the god.
Luda: Proprietress of the Broken Stool, a tavern on the Volition Disk of Uthodurn. An older female dwarf with gray-brown hair, mutton-chop sideburns, and old scars on her chin and clavicle. She provided the party lodging and meals on their arrival and proved a useful source of local gossip and shopping recommendations.
Margrethe: A scholar based in Zemniaz and Kaspien’s collaborator in developing a forbidden process for magical immortality. Their work was hidden from the Forum, an institutional oversight body. Margrethe survived their own transition and sent Kaspien the adjustments needed to prevent a catastrophic resonance fracture— but the warning arrived unread.
Marva Coalvein: Brennik’s mother. An older dwarven woman who received the party at the Coalvein home on the Volition Disk with the wariness of someone who has had too many difficult conversations recently.
Mireth Copperleaf: Captain of the Palebank caravan escort. A stoic attalwen (an elf with a thin beard). Killed during the devastating caravan ambush in the Crystalsands Tundra.
Oltgar Dradegon: Proprietor of Oltgar’s Chest on the Liber Disk. A bald, broad-shouldered dwarf who was whittling a duck when the party visited. His shop’s interior is decorated with an intricate array of unpainted, moving wooden gears. He does not sell or make magical instruments but offered to craft Elara a masterwork mundane one that a spellcaster could later enchant.
Oryn Hammerglass: A veteran Glassblade killed during the caravan ambush.
Padillia: Proprietress of Padillia’s Boutique of Ample Armaments and Boutique of Bountiful Provisions on the Liber Disk. A tall, broad-shouldered Attalwen with copper-colored hair. Her assistant Borric handles fittings and measurements.
Pumat Sol: A renowned enchanter based far south in the city of Rexxentrum. Ava Endlewood recommended seeking him out for high-end, custom magical enhancements.
Quajath: An ancient and powerful entity, referred to as “the Worm”, that slumbers deep beneath the ice of Eiselcross. Its dreams are a psychic contagion, infecting the minds of the lost and promising warmth and communion, but delivering only madness and servitude. It targeted Kragor with its telepathic dreams, causing him immense pain and relentlessly hunting him through its followers, the Wormkin. The party recently learned these fanatic wildlings are locally known as “Mawcotters”, an obsessive cult that undertakes dark pilgrimages to harvest and consume the frozen worm’s flesh.
Reani: An aasimar who lives near the Anvil of Smeltborne on the Liber Disk of Uthodurn. She is responsible for the profusion of flowers decorating Umagorn’s forge. Described by Umagorn as having a heart of gold but very serious in temperament. Doctor Pepe briefly encountered her at the Tumbled Tankards; she departed almost immediately, transforming into a giant eagle and soaring into the city’s heights.
Ressia Uvesic: Scribewarden of the Vellum Steeple. A tall elven librarian with bright blue eyes and a striking platinum pompadour. She debriefed the party on their findings in Kaspien’s laboratory, accepted the heavy tome on lichdom that Kragor surrendered, and—when Elara pressed for more than the flattering mirror— offered a discount on research fees as a further concession.
Rimeflake: A white dragon hatched from an egg discovered by the party on the Foren plains. Kragor carried the egg back to the Greying Wildlands, watched over it until its hatching, and fed it for a few days until it was grown enough to fly into the mountains to do its own hunting. “Rimeflake” and just “Flake” are Kragor’s nicknames for the wyrmling.
The Ruby Golem: A seven-foot humanoid construct of ruby-red crystal, encountered in the sealed chamber beneath the Luddenbrock mines. Built to guard the laboratory, it is bound to an amulet taken from Kaspien’s throat. After Scarlet commandeered the amulet, the golem now answers to her commands.
The Sovereign: The towering, telepathic leader of the myconid circle, whose presence radiates a profound weight of emotion and thought. Grateful for Sprout’s return, the Sovereign welcomed the party as “Flesh Talkers,” revealing that derro attacks had severed communication with southern circles. It accepted the party as the Dynasty’s pledged aid, bestowing four gourds of spore-dust, ten days’ provisions, and a rapid mental map of Underdark paths and attacked circles.
Sparky: Scarlet’s owl wild companion. A loyal and effective scout, Sparky provides aerial reconnaissance for the party.
Sprout: A small myconid sporeling rescued by the party near the ropers’ cavern. Sharing a warm, wordless spore-bond with the company, they rode on Kragor’s shoulders to guide the travelers safely back to their subterranean village. Before the companions ventured further into the Underdark, Kragor persuaded Sprout to remain at the colony to help protect it and grow into their role.
Talindra Snowveil: A veteran Glassblade killed during the caravan ambush.
Taskhand Serath Mirimm: A male drow serving as ambassador from the Kryn Dynasty to Uthodurn, flanked by elite Echo Knights in jagged, chitinous armor. He initially bristled at Diarchy accusations regarding the caravan ambush, but the presence of undead among the attackers cleared the Dynasty of involvement— the Kryn vehemently despise necromancy. He confirmed that a squad of elite Kryn scouts had recently traveled north of the Dunrock Mountains via purple worm tunnel, and went silent shortly after; Kryn forces who followed found the scouts slaughtered and the worm gone. He hosted the party for a summit at the Kryn Embassy, accompanying them into the Underdark before being urgently summoned back to Xhorhas by the Bright Queen. Before departing with Aedric, he pledged the adventurers to the myconid Sovereign as the Dynasty’s aid, left Vornesh Tasithar to guide them, and entrusted Kragor with a sealed letter of passage bearing the dodecahedron seal.
Thilda: A perpetually exhausted dwarven pelt-sharer in Palebank Village, who became the primary beneficiary of Doctor Pepe’s lavish spending and hedonism.
Thornweaver Mosscord (“Moss”): The firbolg caretaker of the Wildmother’s hidden shrine in Uthodurn. Standing eight feet tall with moss growing through his hair and beard, he wears roughspun robes and walks barefoot. Originally from the Savalirwood, he gifted Scarlet a fine herbalism kit after she offered devotions at the altar.
Tomás Veer: A teamster with the Palebank caravan. Killed instantly when the purple worm destroyed the lead wagon.
Tormund Ironfell: Commander of the Uthodurn gate garrison and Minister of the Privy Purse. A broad dwarf of late middle age with an iron-gray beard trimmed short and deep-set eyes. He received the battered caravan survivors at the gate and sent the party to the Broken Stool while he consulted with the palace. He later represented the Diarchy alongside Minister Ërethyn at the tense diplomatic meeting with the Kryn ambassador.
Torvin Coalvein: Brennik’s father and a miner at the Luddenbrock mines. He holds that mining is honest work and made his view plain that the Glassblades are a dangerous romantic notion— a position rooted, as the party came to understand, in something older than simple preference. A portrait in the Coalvein home showed him and Dolgrim Ashward as young men, bright-eyed with the confidence of those who have not yet encountered the things that will cost them. It was Torvin who wanted the green glow in the mines investigated so work could resume. He later argued fiercely against Brennik accompanying the party south until Kragor subtly used a Suggestion enchantment to convince him the expedition was the best path for his son’s recovery.
Umagorn Smeltborne: Master smith at the Anvil of Smeltborne on the Liber Disk. A young dwarf with long blonde braided hair and a magnificent braided mustache. His forge is surrounded by flowers, courtesy of a local aasimar named Reani. He accepted commissions from the party for enchanted weapons and elven chain.
Waffles: Kragor’s bat familiar.
Whisper of Misty Valley: A former member of the party who departed in Syrinlya alongside Halite to guide a wealthy collector into Eiselcross. The client was killed by a remorhaz before the expedition had properly begun; they brought the body home and earned their fee. Whisper moves through crowded spaces with the unhurried ease of someone accustomed to being the most dangerous person in any crowd they care to enter. They rejoined the party on the Auger Trail in Uthodurn.
